Emotion to go

The Emotion To Go Pack is designed to encourage people to convey their emotions in a fun and indirect way. Clay miniatures of food are paired with word puns such as “I MEAT YOU” and “I LOAF YOU”. This work is the response to my experience coming to the United States from China and reflecting on the differences in how people of both cultures express their emotions towards each other. The packaging mimics a product label and all 10 pieces can be displayed on a plastic strip that is similar to be found in a supermarket. People can grab their “emotion” to-go and “sent” their emotions to others.

This work was purchased by the Joan Flasch's Library in School of the Art Institute of Chicago. It is part of the permanent artist book collection.
